Ali, parent of two middle school aged youth in the Seattle Public School system and 25 year resident of the Pacific Northwest, is a long time advocate of parent education. She has led various childhood development and parent education programs during her time as a director of a local preschool and as a leader on the Parent Advisory Council and Program for Early Parenting Support Groups. Ali believes every member of any version of a family or school unit deserves access to free parent education to help guide their kids and teens through their unique journey.

Dora Hall

Co-FOUNDER

Dora, mother of two elementary-aged children, has always been passionate about parent education. Since 2009, she has been a pediatric nurse practitioner at Seattle Children’s Hospital. In this role, Dora helps evaluate and care for children with autism spectrum disorder as well as organizes professional educational events for the nurse practitioner community. She also managed parent education events at a local preschool and has sat on the board at her children’s elementary school. Dora’s vision is that all families should have access to high quality, free parent education while also having opportunities for socialization and connection as they navigate the wild waves of raising children.

Cara Hohenstein

BOARD MEMBER

Cara, a PNW native and parent to two teenagers, discovered the importance of parent education early in parenthood while attending prenatal classes. To Cara, parent education is not simply about improving our abilities as caregivers; it is also to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and to connect with fellow caregivers.

After attending multiple PNW Parent Ed events, Cara felt drawn to get more involved and attended a volunteer opportunity event. She is now serving on the board as Treasurer.

On weekdays, you will find Cara in Fremont where she is the executive director at a law firm. There she enjoys applying her business skills within a firm that is committed to social justice. What Cara treasures most are her family and friends. She spends as much time as possible with the people she loves, even if it is simply to run errands together.

Kellie Pecoraro

Board member

Kellie, mom to elementary and middle school kids, didn’t have a local network of family for support when she started her own family in Seattle. A friend recommended co-op preschool, and to this day, the network of parents and the parent education from co-op continue to be valuable resources that she draws on. Kellie has held board leadership positions on both co-op and elementary school PTA boards, and also serves on a community foundation board focused on wellness, education, innovation & community. Kellie fulfills most of the "tech", creative and social media needs of PNW Parent Ed. As a local photographer, she interacts with a large number of families, and knows there are many parents who are looking for answers to common parenting challenges. Kellie believes that our communities have a large influence on our children, and the stronger the community is and the more parenting tools we all have — the better off we all are for it.

Julie Schneider

Board member

Julie, parent of three kids (two middle schoolers and an elementary-aged kid), geeks out about child development and parenting strategies. Having gotten so much out of discussions she's attended over the past decade(+), Julie is motivated to make these more available and easy for the community to access.

In a previous 'life', Julie was a marketing and business development professional for accountants and hedge funds. It's no wonder she doesn't shy away from helping PNW Parent Ed with our books and government filings, keeping us organized behind the scenes. Julie also serves on the boards of a non-profit focused on supporting bereaved parents and her school PTO. When not at her computer, Julie enjoys getting out on the water, playing pickleball, and bringing people together over something homecooked.
