From Lectures to Connection

Join Us for an Afternoon with Ray Lozano

At PNW Parent Education, we are dedicated to helping families find clarity in the midst of life's most challenging parenting moments. This May, we are thrilled to welcome nationally recognized prevention specialist and speaker Ray Lozano for a conversation that promises to transform the way you approach one of the most pressing issues facing our youth today: the rising tide of alcohol and vaping.

From "The Talk" to Real Dialogue

For many parents, the prospect of discussing substance use feels like a high-stakes lecture. We worry about saying the wrong thing, being met with eye-rolls, or inadvertently pushing our children away. Ray Lozano, the founder of Prevention Plus, brings a refreshingly different approach. As a former stand-up comedian with over 30 years of experience in substance use prevention, Ray understands that the key to reaching teens isn’t fear—it’s connection.

Ray’s unique background allows him to take what is often seen as "boring" prevention information and deliver it with humor, heart, and scientific accuracy. He doesn't just talk at kids; he speaks to their "unique potential." By shifting the focus from what they can't do to what they can achieve, Ray helps young people and their parents see that substance use is often just a block to a student's amazing destiny.

Why This Matters for Parents

The landscape of adolescent substance use has changed rapidly. With the advent of discreet vaping devices and the pervasive influence of social media, the pressures our children face are more complex than ever. When we, as parents, learn to communicate without judgment and with up-to-date knowledge, we become the most powerful protective factor in our children's lives.

Ray’s research-based strategies offer a roadmap to:

  • Break Through the Pushback: Use humor and storytelling to bypass the natural defenses of the adolescent brain.

  • Decipher the "Why": Understand the science of how alcohol and nicotine affect developing brains so you can explain the risks in a way that actually resonates.

  • Empower Healthy Choices: Move beyond the "just say no" era and provide tools that help youth unlock their own potential for a substance-free future.

Join Us on May 19

We invite you to join us for this free community event to hear directly from Ray about his nonjudgmental, science-based approach. Whether you are navigating these conversations for the first time or looking for better ways to keep the lines of communication open, this hour will provide actionable tools and a renewed sense of confidence.
