In teenagers, powerful emotions come with the territory. And with so many of today’s teens contending with academic pressure, social media stress, worries about the future, and concerns about their own mental health, it’s easy for them—and their parents—to feel anxious and overwhelmed. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Please join us for a presentation about Dr. Damour’s latest book in which she will:

  • address the fact that adolescent mental health isn't about feeling good, calm, or relaxed, but about having the right feelings at the right times, and knowing how to manage those feelings effectively

  • offer guidance on how to help teens open up, and how to keep teens from being overwhelmed by their emotions or feeling at the mercy of their moods

  • provide concrete strategies for supporting teens as they manage their feelings at home, with their peers, online, and at school

Pre-order Dr. Damour's Newest Book!: You have the opportunity to pre-order Dr. Damour's newest book. Use one of the links below and a portion of the proceeds will be shared with PNW Parent Education to help us continue providing free parent education events.

Through his grief, he embarked on an ambitious but critical mission to effect change and founded ChooseLife.org. Based on the science of depression and the combined power of psychology and technology, Jason is on a mission to end teen suicide by 2030.

Topic: OVERINDULGENCE: BUILDING RESILIENCY IN THE FACE OF THE NEW NORMAL

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2019

6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Phinney Neighborhood Association: 6615 Dayton Avenue North

Are you concerned about giving "too much" to your children? Do you want to know how overindulgence affects families? Do you want practical and easy parenting tools that you can immediately use to help with overindulgence?

What is Overindulgence?

Overindulgence is giving your child too much of anything that can delay their development. This can include money, space, time, energy, and attention.

Parents overindulge children from a "good heart." Unfortunately, overindulgence doesn’t help children or families because it can present unexpected risks for adult life and major discomforts in young families. In this workshop, parents will explore overindulgence and ways to teach their children how to be accountable and responsible for themselves and towards others.
